Being grateful is a powerful method for generating an inner peace and serenity. I like the reference to “our future-self” being a part of the making of today although, being in the present is what I’d normally want — inviting the “best” future in is helpful in healing, I think. Thanks for this posting. ~ Eric

“Be in a state of gratitude for everything that shows up in your life. Be thankful for the storms as well as the smooth sailing. What is the lesson or gift in what you are experiencing right now? Find your joy not in what’s missing in your life but in how you can serve.” — Wayne Dyer
I have never been more aware of how blessed a life I lead than I am right now. I am so grateful for every moment. Inspired by all that is and will be, I begin a conscious daily dose of gratitude during this month of Thanksgiving. I do this because I am able and I am grateful for that.
I hope your November is filled with moments of thanks and giving. Thank you!

We have a lot to be grateful for. Life and nature have given us so much. The sun, the air, the rain, water, so much to be daily grateful for.
I can only speak for myself but this November is the first time I’ve made a conscious effort to practice real daily gratitude in my life. I hope to cultivate a practice that moves beyond November. We all start somewhere at sometime. It’s a good thing. Let’s not belittle folks just moving into a grateful phase of their life. Let’s encourage it.
Another useful daily practice is to pray for those people that may seem frustrating or bitter or aggravating if any are in your life.
Please don’t think that I am criticising any person who is beginning to look for the blessings in the every day. That was not my intention. However I find it strange that for the month of November many people decide to be grateful for things and then forget about it for the rest of the year. We don’t have Thanksgiving in my country so there is no catalyst for people to begin to develop an attitude of gratitude.
I’m so pleased that your are entering a Grateful phase in your life. May your life become the richer for it.
I’m with suzijones. I’ve seen the same on FB but I refuse to do the ‘days of thanks’ b/c I’m grateful through out the year. Though I do think Thanksgiving is just a reminder for many to be grateful.
yes… certainly gratitude ought to be a daily activity.
I’ve seen a lot of gratitude posts on WordPress this November. It begs me to ask the question “Why should the days of November be any different from every other day of the year”?
good question — I’ll look into that — thanks!
It seems that the practice of declaring November as a month for gratitude may originate with Alcoholics Anonymous although I find that many organizations and spiritual persons also encourage a beginning of being grateful with November being mentioned as gratitude month. I think that daily practice is essential for inner peacefulness — I might start out with family or work or a comfortable morning or accomplishment — but its really the inner peace that comes with being grateful that expands my awareness of being human to include being compassionate and empathetic, caring for and about others… there are just so many benefits for my mental, emotional, and even physical self that my spirit rejoices in me. Apparently, the social networks are promoting gratitude too — its all good it seems.
I am all for being grateful but find it strange that most people seem to be doing it for only one month. I try to look for the blessings in my life every day.
I don’t use other social networks — so using google, I looked into it and found that while November is noted by large numbers of people and organizations as gratitude month that also most of these promote daily gratitude. It is necessary every day for me as well to be thankful/grateful.
