What is it like to be homeless?



Each night more than 60,000 people — including more than 22,000 children — experience homelessness.

Teens age 12 to 17 are more likely to become homeless than adults.

There are approximately 1.7 million homeless teens in the U.S.

Approximately 12 million children in the US are living below poverty level.

It is estimated that 50% of America’s homeless women and children are running from domestic abuse.

Homeless children are four times more likely to get sick.

More than 50% of young people in shelters and on the streets report that their parents told them to leave or knew they were leaving and didn’t care.

Violence plays a major role in the lives of homeless children.

41% are persons living in families.
