This short video reminds me that the best I do is sometimes right on and in other cases needs improving – I pray we all may be doing our best and noticing where this may improve as well. Its still self-improvement month here at my blog. Its been a quick month for me. The New Year is coming soon and I am doing my best to be ready for the best year of my life, I pray this next year will bring greater awareness of God’s love to us all. ~ Eric

Be Kind. We're all in this together.

This is short and sweet, yet hits you over the head with a ton of bricks. The original video, by the RSA, features the voice of the incredible Dr. Brené Brown and the animation of Katy Davis (aka Gobblynne). These excerpts are from Brown’s full-length speech “The Power of Vulnerability.” Want to see more? Check out her genius TED talk.

Or…  Is having an ordinary life thought to mean it’s a meaningless life?

Its awkward and difficult when I’m put on the spot sometimes.

Getting past that was something of a triumph as I grew in my career; but that wasn’t all there was to it because somewhere along the line, I began to wonder too if vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage.

This topic is deep. I had no idea just how much I’d learn by review of my life’s experience while listening to this one hour video — oh my!
Actually, I watched it twice.

Here’s one for you:

If someone said “What’s the difference between shame, guilt, humiliation, and embarrassment?” would you be able to respond with knowledge — the knowing from your experiences what’s the difference — the crux of what’s the struggles of lifelong learning? Never mind what is in the books.

The Power of Vulnerability, July 4, 2013
Full RSA webcast including Q&A

Isn’t vulnerability basically uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure? “Yes”  How is vulnerability an asset? “In you, it’s courage and daring.” So, why not choose to always embrace vulnerability? “In me, it’s weakness.”

Watch this (the lecture is about 30 minutes; questions follow):

Catch the first question/answer? Its a doozie!
Each question/answer is fantastic… hope you can see it all.

When we’ve attached our self-worth to what we produce
or earn, being real gets dicey.

Do I hitch my self-worth to what I do/did?
Hmmm… actually, I’m practicing not doing this.
I began before the video — THANK YOU GOD!
THIS VIDEO IS REALLY GOOD!

Research Point
“Our capacity for whole heartedness can never be greater than our willingness to be broken hearted.” Follow the research — try it out in yourself.

Thanks for reading
(spiritual topics in a secular world),

Dr Brené Brown has spent the past twelve years carrying out ground-breaking research into vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame.

BreneBrown-VulnerabilityA best-selling author and award-winning educator, Dr. Brown’s books and talks have been hugely influential in tackling the myth that vulnerability is a weakness.

She argues that it is only by embracing vulnerability and imperfection that we can live life with courage and authenticity.

Recognizing and acting on this insight has the power to transform the way we engage in our families, organizations, schools and communities.

“Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.”

Hunt 4 Truth

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." https://hunt4truth.wordpress.com/ Absolute Truth is whole, complete and perfect. Absolute Truth is just beyond words, mental concepts, and form; Non-being, yet in everything and yet beyond thought forms. Prayer and meditation fashion in our hearts further honesty, openness, and willingness and thus, we may glimpse guidance and truth to rightly think and act. Any glimpse of truth is not Absolute Truth. It may be sufficient until we renew our commitment to serve God. Life is thus best navigated during mindfulness of prayer and meditation by an inner peace. "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Romans 1:20
