Your WordPress profile can link to a public Gravatar profile and you can control what is publicly displayed and even provide links from your Gravatar profile to your pages at WordPress or elsewhere.

I try to use the Gravatar links from my pages to WordPress users that Like my posts. In many cases (the majority), the Gravatar link is a dead end. If you haven’t been using the Gravatar profiles to provide a link to your WordPress blog, this tip is for you. Even if you already do this, there may be a tip in this post that works for you as well.

Well, the question has been answered. Will the bees trust me using my macro lens as I photograph them from within my Lavender Bushes? I have a 60mm lens which is not a very long lens by far, and I work with no extension tubes. I use only my macro lens when I do all my macro photography.

One of the great contributions that Teilhard de Chardin made to Christian theology is his reconciliation of traditional Christian theology with evolutionary biology. Science has continued to advance. Discoveries in the past 100 years, from the Big Bang to particle physics provide additional evidence in support of the monotheistic belief that there is an intelligent Creator of the Universe. Moreover, the strange world physics of quantum mechanics also supports the notion that this Creator is relational, similar to the Christian belief in the Trinity.

I am not a scientist and do not pretend to understand anything more than the basics of quantum physics. However, George Farahat of the blog Today’s Questions does have background in quantum physics and did a great job of synthesizing quantum physics and the triune God in a recent blogpost. park closedWhen I was a kid, I lived on an idyllic street in Lansing, Michigan. My street had a soft hill that gently ended at a park overlooking the Grand River. The park was refuge where the neighborhood kids and I would play on the swing set and grass, but even then, the water was so dirty that none of us would go near it.

The Grand River was a victim of the factories and car manufacturing plants upstream. (Lansing is home to Oldsmobile and many other part manufacturers. The R.E. Olds’ crypt is there.)

At that time, a well-known TV commercial aired, featuring a Native American, complete with feathered headdress, who cried watching the litter and pollution spew into the water, air and land.

Since then, most citizens have “cleaned up their act,” but corporations continue to dump and spill toxic oil and chemicals all over the place. In December, Shanghai ordered all cars off the road because the air was too polluted to breathe…

In theory eating well at work should be no more difficult than eating well in the other areas of your life but for a lot of people, it just is.  From what I’ve observed this is down to a common set of what I call ‘derailers’ which can undermine the best of intentions when it comes to healthy eating in the workplace.  People’s relationship to food is often complex and social environments like workplaces infuse the eating and sharing of food with added complications like the expectation to conform to cultural norms around politeness and reciprocity meaning that decisions about what and when you eat – decisions that should be a purely personal choice – are often fraught.

Rescue: Buck’s story

Buck was about six weeks old, covered in fleas, with fireworks tied to him and he’d been given poison. He was on the road when found by a kindly worker. 

The worker wrapped the puppy in a blanket and brought him home (he was going to look for someone to adopt him). A roommate took one look at him and wanted to keep him. The puppy was in really bad shape. He also had Parvo and the medical exam found that he’d been beaten.

Eight years later, Buck is reported to be the sweetest and most even tempered dog — ever known by his owners.

This is a story that plays over just about every day. Animals in need of rescue are plentiful.
